N-ARIA: Native Mobile Accessibility, part 9 of 9
Custom Actions

A social post with Like, Comment and Add buttons looks fine. Swipe through a feed with a screen reader, though, and you stop four times per post. There are two bad extremes:
- Icon buttons in every post: three unnamed stops per post, each with no hint of which post it belongs to.
- Every action spelled out: "Like Post 1", "Comment Post 1" as full buttons. Clear, but the feed becomes a long list of buttons.
The middle ground is a custom action. The post is one stop that reads its content, and its actions sit on the post itself: on iOS, accessibilityCustomActions; on Android, AccessibilityAction (customActions in Compose semantics). People swipe up or down (VoiceOver) or open the actions menu (TalkBack) to like or comment, without leaving the post.
The buttons stay on screen for everyone else. N-ARIA changes only what a screen reader meets.
